YEA Signs MoU with Camfed Ghana to Empower Young Women and Persons with Disabilities.

Accra, Ghana — June 20, 2025*

In a bold step toward inclusive development, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Camfed Ghana to support and empower young women and persons living with disabilities across the country.

The partnership, sealed at a formal signing ceremony in Accra, marks a significant milestone in the agency’s drive to ensure that all Ghanaians—regardless of gender or ability—have access to meaningful employment and livelihood opportunities.

Speaking at the event, YEA CEO Malik Basintale reaffirmed the agency’s unwavering commitment to creating equal platforms for economic participation. “This partnership reflects our belief that national development can only be achieved when everyone, especially marginalized groups, is given a fair chance,” Basintale said.

He emphasized that the collaboration with Camfed Ghana, an organization renowned for championing girls’ education and women’s empowerment, aligns perfectly with YEA’s broader agenda of inclusion. “We are proud to work with a partner that shares our vision of a Ghana where no one is left behind,” he added.

As part of its inclusive agenda, YEA has already rolled out several initiatives aimed at supporting persons with disabilities. Basintale highlighted the ongoing YEA-GIZ partnership, which provides vocational training and employment in the fashion industry for individuals with disabilities. He also announced the upcoming launch of a Catfish Farming Program specifically designed to create sustainable livelihoods for persons with disabilities, further demonstrating YEA’s commitment to inclusive economic empowerment.

Camfed Ghana Country Director, Sally Ofori-Yeboah, welcomed the partnership as a critical boost for the organization’s efforts to extend support beyond education and into meaningful employment pathways for young women, especially those facing social and economic barriers.

The new MoU is expected to create opportunities for skills development, mentorship, and job placement tailored to the unique needs of the target groups.

This collaboration adds to a growing list of proactive measures by YEA to address unemployment among youth and vulnerable populations, underlining the agency’s goal of fostering a Ghana that thrives on equity, innovation, and resilience.
