An 11 –Member delegation from various sectors of the Malawian government led by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon Ulemu Msungama, on Thursday 15th July 2021, embarked on a study tour of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in Accra to understudy the employment modules of the Agency.
The delegation comprised officials from the Malawian Ministry of Youth and Sports, Malawian Defense Force, Ministry of Homeland Security, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic Planning and the National Youth Council of Malawi.
The essence of the visit to the Agency, according to the Sports Minister was to understudy the YEA Concept, learn and replicate same back home to equally tackle the unemployment menace in Malawi.Having been walked through a presentation on the YEA modules and the Job Centre concept, he praised the Management of the Agency for the bold initiatives towards addressing the unemployment challenges of the youth.
Mr. Yaw Nsiah, Director of Research and Planning, who represented the Chief Executive Officer, noted that the Agency was ready to share ideas with their Malawian counterparts to look at areas of building synergies between the two countries towards tackling the unemployment situation.
He used the platform to announce that the Agency in the coming months was going to work on the 'Work Abroad' Project, the Ekumfi Chalk Factory, completion of additional offices in the 6 newly created regions and renovation of YEA Offices across the country.
Over the past year, similar delegations from the Republic of Burkina Faso and the Kingdom of Lesotho have already visited the YEA on the same mission to understudy the concept.
