Let Discipline Be Your Hallmark…CPAs Recruits Advised

KKSS

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in charge of Operations, Alhaji Bashiru Ibrahim, has urged the Community Protection Assistant (CPAs) recruits in the country to embrace discipline as a guiding principle in their chosen field.

He explained that obeying instructions during the training was supposed to psyche them up to deliver on their roles adding that their output during the deployment period would enable them to gain recognition for future recruitment into the mainstream GPS He therefore advised the CPAs to be cautious of arrogating to themselves titles and ranks which were the preserve of the mainstream personnel when on deployment to serve in the communities.

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer was speaking at the Opening ceremony for the Second batch of CPAs recruits at the National Police Training School (NPTS) on Tuesday 17th January 2023 in Accra to symbolically open the training in the other Police Training Institutions across the country. He reiterated that the YEA and for that matter the government remained committed to helping provide decent jobs for the youth and that was the reason why the Agency entered into a collaboration with the GPS for that purpose of jobs creation for the youth.

The Commanding Officer of the NPTS, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Samuel Asiedu Okanta also harped on the subject of discipline and entreated the trainees to conduct themselves well during the period of the training. He stated that the CPA training was meant to equip them with the requisite knowledge and skills to function effectively as CPAs in their communities and therefore would be introduced to several subject areas including Ethics and Code of Conduct for Law enforcement Officials, Arrest, Search and Detention procedures, Community Policing and Community based Patrols among others.

He explained that the knowledge to be acquired by the CPAs during their training would come in handy to support the GPS to maintain law and order citing duties such as day and night patrols, snap checks, swoops, intelligence gathering, criminal investigations, public order management, traffic management among others.

In attendance from the YEA were the Director of Technical Service, Mr. Chris Arthur, Director Corporate Affairs Mr. Kwasi Afriyie and Mr. Prince Obeng the YEA Greater Accra Regional Director

YEA is a Government Agency setup by law to provide jobs and create employment opportunities for the youth of Ghana
