YEA CEO Graces Graduation Ceremony of Guinness Ghana’s Learning Skills for Life Program
The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mr. Malik Basintale, together with senior management members of the Agency, joined stakeholders and graduates to celebrate the successful completion of the Guinness Ghana Learning Skills for Life Phase II training program.
Held in Accra, the graduation ceremony marked a significant milestone in the collaborative efforts between Guinness Ghana Limited, YEA, and TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) institutions, aimed at tackling youth unemployment through practical skills development.
Over 200 young Ghanaians graduated from the program, having undergone intensive training in hospitality and customer service—skills in high demand within Ghana’s growing tourism and service sectors. Participants were taken through modules that enhanced their communication, service delivery, and entrepreneurial abilities, with the goal of improving employability and encouraging innovation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Basintale lauded the graduates for their commitment and encouraged them to pursue excellence in their new careers. He emphasized the importance of skills acquisition in addressing Ghana’s unemployment challenge and praised Guinness Ghana for its commitment to youth development.
“Today, we celebrate not just the end of a training program, but the beginning of a new journey for these young people,” Mr. Basintale said. “At YEA, we believe in creating platforms where skills meet opportunity—and this partnership is a testament to that vision.”
The Learning Skills for Life program, an initiative spearheaded by Guinness Ghana, seeks to empower Ghana’s youth with industry-relevant skills and connect them to real-world employment opportunities. The program’s second phase builds on the success of its pilot, further deepening private-public partnerships in Ghana’s human capital development agenda.
Representatives from Guinness Ghana and TVET Service also commended the initiative and pledged continued support to scale up the program to reach more youth across the country.
Graduates were presented with certificates and toolkits to aid their transition into the job market or to launch their own ventures in the hospitality space.
As Ghana continues to confront the complexities of youth unemployment, initiatives like this stand out as beacons of hope, demonstrating the impact of collaboration between government, private sector, and development stakeholders.
Together, we are building a future where skills meet opportunity.
