YEA Graduates Final Batch of Prison Service Assistants.

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA), in partnership with the Ghana Prisons Service, has successfully graduated the third and final batch of Prison Service Assistants under its nationwide Prison Assistants Module. The ceremony, held at the Prison Officers Training School in Fumso in the Ashanti Region, marks the completion of training for over 5,000 young Ghanaians who have now been fully equipped to support the country’s correctional system.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer of YEA, *Mr. Abubakari Saana Abdul-Kudus, represented the Agency’s Chief Executive Officer, *Mr. Malik Basintale, at the event. He commended the graduates for their discipline, dedication, and resilience throughout the training period, emphasizing that their role will significantly contribute to enhancing national security and improving operations within Ghana’s prisons.

The Prison Assistants Module is a major component of YEA’s broader strategy to combat youth unemployment through structured skills development and job placement. With the graduation of this final cohort, all beneficiaries under the programme are set to be immediately deployed nationwide to assist the Ghana Prisons Service in areas including security, inmate welfare, rehabilitation, and general operational support.

Officials of the Ghana Prisons Service applauded the continued collaboration with YEA, noting that the deployment of the assistants will help ease workload pressures, strengthen rehabilitation systems, and reinforce public safety efforts across the country.

The successful completion of the programme underscores YEA’s commitment to creating dignified and sustainable employment pathways for young people while simultaneously supporting key state institutions.

YEA reiterated its mission to transform the potential of Ghana’s youth into purposeful national service and economic empowerment through strategic partnerships and innovative employment initiatives.
