The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mr. Malik Basintale, has officially handed over a range of skills training equipment to the Western North Regional Director for onward distribution to beneficiaries under the Agency’s various Skills Training Modules.
The handover forms part of YEA’s continued efforts to equip young people with the practical resources they need to translate their training and skills into sustainable livelihood opportunities. Beyond providing training, the Agency recognises the importance of ensuring that beneficiaries have access to the appropriate tools and equipment required to apply their knowledge effectively and establish productive careers.
The equipment will support beneficiaries undertaking training and activities across a wide range of trades, including hairdressing, beauty care, tailoring, baking, auto mechanics, construction, electrical works, and carpentry. These areas represent practical fields through which young people can develop employable skills, create income-generating opportunities, and contribute to economic activity in their communities.
Speaking during the handover, the CEO, Mr. Malik Basintale, emphasised the importance of combining skills development with the necessary tools and resources to enable beneficiaries to put their acquired knowledge into practice. He noted that training alone may not be sufficient to achieve the desired impact if beneficiaries lack access to the equipment required to work in their chosen trades.
He explained that the provision of the equipment is therefore intended to bridge the gap between training and practical application, giving beneficiaries greater capacity to begin working, improve their productivity, and pursue sustainable livelihoods.
The CEO further stressed the importance of ensuring that the Agency’s interventions translate into tangible outcomes for young people. He encouraged beneficiaries to make effective use of the equipment, remain committed to their respective trades, and view the support as an opportunity to build their skills, establish themselves economically, and contribute positively to their communities.
The items were handed over to the Western North Regional Director for onward distribution to the identified beneficiaries across the region. For beneficiaries in hairdressing and beauty care, the equipment will provide support for practical work and service delivery, while those in tailoring and baking will receive resources relevant to their respective trades. Similarly, beneficiaries in auto mechanics, construction, electrical works, and carpentry will benefit from tools designed to support their practical activities and improve their ability to work within their chosen fields.
