The leadership of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has engaged staff of the Western North Regional Office in Sefwi-Wiawso as part of the Agency’s ongoing regional tour, providing an opportunity for management to interact directly with staff, assess the progress of programmes, and reinforce the values and responsibilities that underpin effective service delivery.
The engagement formed part of YEA’s broader efforts to strengthen communication and coordination between management and its regional offices while ensuring that staff across the country remain aligned with the Agency’s mandate and strategic direction. It also provided a platform for management to appreciate the efforts of staff on the ground and gain a better understanding of the operational realities involved in implementing the Agency’s programmes at the regional and district levels.
In attendance were the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Malik Basintale, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Operations, Mr. Abubakari Abdul Saana Kudus, and the Western North Regional Minister, Hon. Wilbert Petty Brentum.
The presence of the Regional Minister further highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Agency and regional stakeholders in advancing employment opportunities and supporting initiatives that respond to the needs of young people within the Western North Region.
Addressing staff, the Deputy CEO in charge of Operations, Mr. Abubakari Abdul Saana Kudus, urged employees to uphold discipline, punctuality, and professionalism in the discharge of their day-to-day duties. He emphasised that the effective implementation of YEA’s programmes depends not only on the policies and interventions introduced by management but also on the commitment, accountability, and dedication of staff responsible for delivering them.
He encouraged staff to approach their responsibilities with a strong sense of purpose and to remain conscious of the impact their work has on beneficiaries and communities. He noted that every interaction with a beneficiary, stakeholder, or member of the public contributes to the overall image of the Agency and therefore requires professionalism, respect, and accountability.
The Deputy CEO further encouraged staff to work collaboratively and maintain effective communication within their teams. He stressed the importance of ensuring that operational challenges are addressed promptly and that staff remain focused on finding practical solutions that can improve the implementation of YEA’s programmes.
CEO Malik Basintale, in his address, commended the Western North Regional team for their dedication, resilience, and hard work in implementing the Agency’s programmes and reaching young people across the region. He acknowledged the important role played by regional and district staff in translating the Agency’s policies and employment interventions into tangible opportunities for beneficiaries.
The CEO encouraged staff to remain focused and committed to the Agency’s mandate, stressing the need for continued dedication as YEA expands its efforts to create meaningful employment and skills development opportunities for Ghanaian youth.
He also emphasised the importance of maintaining a strong connection between the Agency’s programmes and the needs of beneficiaries. Staff were encouraged to remain responsive to the concerns of young people and to ensure that the implementation of programmes is guided by efficiency, fairness, accountability, and a commitment to achieving meaningful outcomes.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for staff to interact with management and share their perspectives on the Agency’s operations. Such engagements are intended to encourage open communication and ensure that staff have opportunities to contribute ideas that can strengthen service delivery and improve the Agency’s impact.
For management, direct engagement with regional teams remains an important part of building a stronger institution. By visiting regional offices and interacting with staff, the Agency seeks to better understand the operational environment in which its programmes are implemented while reinforcing a shared sense of responsibility towards achieving its objectives.
The Western North engagement therefore reaffirmed the importance of teamwork, professionalism, discipline, and accountability in the successful delivery of YEA’s mandate. It also demonstrated management’s commitment to ensuring that staff across all regions are supported and aligned with the Agency’s vision of expanding employment opportunities for young people.
The engagement forms part of YEA’s broader regional tour, through which management continues to engage staff across the country, strengthen internal coordination, assess programme implementation, and reinforce the Agency’s commitment to responsive and effective service delivery.
As YEA continues to expand its programmes and interventions, the Agency remains committed to building a motivated and professional workforce capable of responding effectively to the employment needs of Ghana’s youth and contributing to sustainable opportunities for young people in the Western North Region and beyond.
