The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has achieved another major milestone in its health-sector interventions with the official opening of the first batch of the Community Medical First Responders (CMFR) Training Programme at the Paramedics and Emergency Care Training School in Nkenkaasu. This initiative represents a significant step in strengthening Ghana’s emergency healthcare system while creating impactful opportunities for young people.
Representing the Agency at the ceremony, the Deputy CEO, Mr. Abubakari Saana Abdul-Kudus, reaffirmed YEA’s unwavering commitment to supporting national emergency response structures through targeted youth-focused programmes. He emphasized the importance of equipping young Ghanaians with critical lifesaving skills that empower them to provide immediate assistance during emergencies and contribute to the safety and well-being of their communities.
The event was also attended by the CEO of the Ghana Ambulance Service, Dr. George Kojo Owusu, who commended the partnership and highlighted the transformative impact the CMFR programme will have on pre-hospital care across the nation. He noted that expanding the number of trained responders is essential to improving survival outcomes and strengthening Ghana’s overall emergency response capacity.
Through this initiative, 6,000 young Ghanaians will be trained and deployed across the country to support emergency medical services, particularly in underserved and hard-to-reach communities where rapid intervention can be the difference between life and death. Trainees will acquire essential competencies in first aid, basic life support, emergency response techniques, and community healthcare.
The launch of the CMFR Training Programme reinforces YEA’s dedication to empowering the youth with practical, marketable skills while contributing meaningfully to national development. By investing in lifesaving capacities and creating employment opportunities, the Agency continues to champion youth empowerment and community resilience across Ghana.
