YEA Partners with Shatta Wale’s SHAXI to Drive Youth Employment in Ghana.
Accra, Ghana — June 2025
In a landmark move to tackle youth unemployment, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has announced a strategic partnership with award-winning musician Shatta Wale and his ride-hailing initiative, SHAXI. This collaboration aims to create thousands of jobs across the country by leveraging innovation, entrepreneurship, and public-private synergy.
At the heart of the agreement, the YEA will support the first 2,000 SHAXI vehicles onboarded to the platform with monthly fuel coupons worth GHC500 for six months. This financial backing is expected to significantly reduce operational costs for drivers, making SHAXI a more attractive venture for young entrepreneurs and job seekers in the transport sector.
Speaking on the partnership, CEO of the Youth Employment Agency, Malik Basintale, highlighted the initiative as a “game-changing solution to youth unemployment,” emphasizing the importance of empowering young Ghanaians through sustainable and scalable business models.
“This is more than just a transport solution — it’s an empowerment initiative,” said Basintale. “By partnering with influential figures like Shatta Wale and innovative platforms like SHAXI, we are creating opportunities where the youth can thrive independently while contributing to national development.”
Adding to the initiative’s impact, SHAXI vehicles that operate on a 24-hour basis will receive additional incentives. This approach enables each vehicle to support at least two drivers working in shifts — doubling employment opportunities while ensuring consistent service and income flow.
Shatta Wale, the visionary behind SHAXI (Shatta Taxi), expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration. “This is a dream come true,” he stated. “SHAXI was built to create jobs, and partnering with YEA means we can now reach more youth and truly change lives.”
The initiative has already sparked excitement on social media, with thousands praising the partnership for combining government support with private sector innovation and celebrity influence. It is expected to not only alleviate unemployment but also boost the local economy by increasing participation in the gig and transport economy.
With the launch of this partnership, the YEA and SHAXI are setting a new standard in inclusive job creation — one that blends creativity, technology, and social impact.
