The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has successfully facilitated the departure of the second cohort of 25 beneficiaries to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to take up employment as professional drivers. The initiative forms part of the Agency’s expanding Work Abroad Programme, designed to create international job opportunities for Ghanaian youth.
Under the leadership of YEA Chief Executive Officer Malik Basintale, the programme continues to gain momentum, offering structured pathways for young people to secure dignified and well-regulated jobs outside Ghana.
This latest batch of beneficiaries completed all mandatory procedures in collaboration with the Ghana Labour Department, ensuring compliance with labour standards and migration requirements. The group also underwent comprehensive pre-departure orientation, covering workplace expectations, cultural adaptation, safety protocols, and general welfare support to prepare them for their transition into the UAE job market.
According to YEA officials, the initiative is aimed at not only reducing unemployment but also equipping beneficiaries with skills and experiences that can translate into long-term economic empowerment. The Agency emphasised that the programme is designed with strict safeguards to ensure the safety, dignity, and fair treatment of all participants.
The successful deployment of this second group builds on the achievements of the first cohort and reinforces YEA’s commitment to expanding Ghana’s footprint in the global workforce. The Agency says it will continue to work with international partners to open more opportunities for young Ghanaians in various sectors abroad.
The Work Abroad Programme has been described as one of YEA’s most transformative initiatives, offering beneficiaries the chance to earn competitive incomes, support their families, and gain valuable international experience.
