YEA Signs MoU with G4S to Recruit 6,000 Youth into Ghana’s Security Sector

In a bold step toward tackling youth unemployment and strengthening Ghana’s security sector, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), under the leadership of its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Malik Basintale, has signed a landmark one-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with G4S Security Services Ghana.

The signing ceremony, held earlier today in Accra, marks the beginning of a nationwide recruitment drive that will see 6,000 young individuals employed in various roles within the private security sector.

The partnership represents a strategic collaboration between government and the private sector to bridge the employment gap while enhancing the professionalism and capacity of security services across the country. It aligns with YEA’s broader mission of creating sustainable jobs and empowering Ghanaian youth with the skills and opportunities necessary for long-term economic participation.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Basintale highlighted the importance of the initiative in creating “dignified and impactful” employment opportunities.

“This partnership is more than just job creation—it’s about giving young people the platform to contribute meaningfully to national development,” he stated. “With G4S, we are not only opening doors for employment but also investing in safer communities and a stronger, more capable security sector.”
Representatives from G4S Security Services expressed their commitment to working closely with YEA to train and integrate the recruits into professional roles that meet international standards in private security.

The 6,000 recruits will undergo rigorous training to prepare them for responsibilities including site security, surveillance, corporate protection, and event security services. This initiative will also include capacity-building components aimed at enhancing the long-term career prospects of the beneficiaries.

The MoU is seen as a win-win arrangement—providing G4S with a reliable pool of vetted and trained personnel while offering thousands of Ghanaian youth the chance to gain formal employment in a growing industry.

This collaboration echoes a shared vision of empowering youth, boosting national security, and building a resilient workforce for Ghana’s future.
