The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has taken a significant step toward strengthening Ghana’s emergency healthcare system while expanding meaningful employment opportunities for young people. Through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Ambulance Service, the Agency is set to train and deploy 6,000 Community Medical First Responders across the country, one of the most ambitious emergency response initiatives ever undertaken in Ghana.
This landmark programme is purposefully designed to enhance frontline medical assistance, especially in underserved and hard-to-reach communities where rapid response can make the difference between life and death. By equipping young Ghanaians with essential skills in first aid, emergency care, basic life support, and community health interventions, the initiative will substantially boost the nation’s capacity to manage medical emergencies at the local level.
In addition to improving healthcare delivery, the programme creates thousands of dignified jobs, offering young people a purposeful and impactful career path. Participants will not only gain employable skills but also contribute directly to saving lives and strengthening national resilience.
